Caroona JARMAN Hostel PDF Print E-mail

Jarman HostelThank you for considering UnitingCare Caroona Jarman Hostel as a place that could provide you or your elderly relative with residential care. We are confident that we will meet your requirements for comfort, security, respect, friendliness and safety with the ease that only many years of experience in seeing to the needs of older people can generate. Add to this our links to other Uniting Church aged care agencies state-wide and our commitment to staff education, quality assurance and resident consultation, and you will realise our service is second to none!

We look forward to sharing that experience with you when the opportunity arises for you or your family member to join us. Our Hostel Manager at Jarman is Doreen Coughran.

Facilities
FreindsThe Hostel offers a pleasing combination of town and country surrounds in Rous Rd, Goonellabah, with views overlooking rural valleys to the south but sporting fields, shopping centre and service agencies such as local council, library and community health services are only a short walk away.

In 2007 the staged redevelopment of this facility was completed. This comprehensive reconstruction program means we are able to offer state of the art accommodation facilities for 80 residents, consisting of spacious rooms with private ensuites. Each room is equipped with ample built-in wardrobe space, a bed and bed side tables, writing desk and chair and an additional sitting chair. Each room has individually controlled reverse cycle air conditioning provided.  It should not be a problem if you choose to bring in furniture items that are of particular significance to you, provided space constraints allow it and you have made arrangement with management beforehand.

Services
Meals: UnitingCare catering operates on a cook/serve basis just like you do at home. We support local businesses for purchasing our provisions and our staff consult regularly with residents about the quality, variety and presentation of meals in the Hostel. If you wish to invite a guest for a meal for a special occasion we will be happy to assist to make it an enjoyable experience and if you are going to be absent for a meal, we will put a meal aside for you for later.

Social Activities: UnitingCare employs staff who will assist you to assimilate into our recreational programs if you wish. Our activities are planned to bring elements of learning, community involvement, craft, social contact and just plain entertainment for the fun of it within the reach of all residents. Whether a game of cards, and exercise session in our heated pool or a bus-drive, there will be something for you to keep life active and interesting.

Christmas at Jarman

Laundry: You are welcome to use the on-site laundry equipment at the Hostel if you want to wash your own clothes, but many people opt to send their washing to the UnitingCare commercial laundry. Whichever you choose, there is no cost involved.

Pharmacy: UnitingCare can organise for your presciptions to be dispensed and delivered to you, courtesy of the pharmacy located in the nearby shopping centre.

Transport: There is a bus-stop to access public transport at the front of the Hostel, with hourly services running. The local taxi company can provide specialised transport for wheel-chair-based clients and UnitingCare itself runs a small bus down to the Lismore CBD at no charge to our residents each Thursday.

Hairdressing: A qualified hairdresser comes to the Hostel each week to attend to cutting, perming and setting. Payment for the service is by private arrangement between the hairdresser and the resident.

At UnitingCare Caroona Jarman Hostel you also have: Your own choice of Doctor, Podiatry Service, 24 hour access to staff, access to Telephones, and regular Church Services held in the Home.

We want you to enjoy your stay in our Home and feel confident that we are providing a world class service to our residents.

Do remember however, that assessment by an Aged Care Assessment team is a prerequisite for entry
